Rill Food heirloom bean blend is a mix of Great Northern Beans, Jacob Cattle Beans and Orca Beans.
Great Northern Beans are a large off-white bean with mild flavor and a slightly grainy texture. It holds its shape well when cooked, making it ideal for soups, salads and baked beans.
Jacob Cattle Beans were named because their coloring resembles the hide of spotted cattle, Jacob’s Cattle Beans are thought to have been domesticated in the 17th Century by the Passamaquoddy Indians in the region now occupied by Maine and Eastern Canada.
Orca Beans hold up well after cooking and you’ll notice that they retain most of their coloring. They are a heirloom bean that was domesticated over 400 years ago in the Caribbean
